Merging Documents and Citations

In some cases you might have two documents with citations that you want to merge. You can do this in Word using Write N Cite.

Note: Both documents must have citations from the same RefWorks account in order to merge citations.

  • Steps to merge documents and update citations and reference list:
  • Copy text and in text citations that you have already entered from each document and paste into a new word document. Citations at this point will not be updated. You do not need to copy the reference list/bibliography if you have already inserted it.
  • Once you have copy and pasted the text and in text citations click on  Reapply Output Style. The in text citations will then be updated in the text.
  • Click on Insert Bibliography to have an updated bibliography in your document.
