Bioinformatics + Data Science Workstation
Policies and Guidelines

The Health Sciences and Human Services Library is now providing a bioinformatics workstation in the commons area on the first level of the Library for Faculty, Staff and Students and of The University of Maryland Baltimore.. The high performance computer is loaded with licensed and open-source software and is dedicated to high-throughput data analysis.
The workstation is located on the first floor of the HSHSL along the back yellow wall. Reservations are REQUIRED. Be sure read the computers policies and review the hardware and software available.
General Usage
- Only current students, faculty and staff at the University of Maryland, Baltimore may use the high performance workstation.
- You must have your UMB identification to use the high performance workstation.This will be held by Library staff during use of the high performance workstation.
- The High performance workstation is available, by reservation only, during these hours: Monday – Friday, 9:30-11:30 and 1:00-3:00.
- There is no technical assistance available on the weekend. The high performance workstation is only available on weekends for reserved projects.
- To save your work, bring a storage device such as a laptop, SD card or flash drive.
- The room will be held for 15 minutes beyond a reserved time. After 15 minutes, reservations may be cancelled.
- Three person capacity.
- No food/drink.
Reservations
- Reservation requests are made by completing an online reservation request form. No walk-in use.
- A reservation is not confirmed until the requester receives a confirmation email.
- Minimum 24 hour advance notice required for reservation requests.
