Medical Library Association (MLA) Grants

MLA Mid-Atlantic Chapter (MAC)

MAC Research & Assessment Grant.  The purpose of the Research & Assessment Grants is to promote and stimulate excellence in the field of health science librarianship and the information sciences. Grants may be used to support all or part of the costs of a project, up to a maximum of $1000. MAC/MLA may award more than one grant in a year for a maximum of $1000 in any one year.

MLA New to the Profession

MLA Research, Development, and Demonstration Project Grant
. Provides support for projects that will promote excellence in the field of health sciences librarianship and information sciences.

Hospital Libraries Section/MLA Professional Development Grant. Provides librarians working in hospitals or clinical settings with the support needed for educational or research activities.

 

MLA Mid-Career Professional

Eugene Garfield Research Fellowship: Stimulates research into the history of information sciences to increase the underlying knowledgebase and enhance the current and future practice of the information professions, particularly health sciences librarianship and health informatics.

Donald A. B. Lindberg Research Fellowship (deadline is November 15): Funds research linking the information services provided by librarians to improved health care and awarded to a qualified health professional, researcher, educator, administrator, or librarian.

MLA Professional Development Grant
. Provides librarians working in hospitals or clinical settings with the support needed for educational or research activities.

RUSA Business Reference and Services Section (BRASS)

BRASS Emerald Research Grant Award.  The Emerald Research Grant Award will be awarded to individuals seeking support to conduct research in business librarianship. The funds may be used at the discretion of the award recipients.


RUSA History Section

Gale Cengage History Research and Innovation Award.  This award will be granted to an MLS degreed librarian from an ALA accredited school to facilitate and further research relating to history and history librarianship.  An emphasis in an area reflected by the History Section’s subject-oriented committees, not excluding American history, is required.  Those committees are:  Genealogy, Local History, Instruction and Research Services, and Historical Materials.

ALA Diversity Research Grant consists of a one-time $2,500 award for original research. Three grants are awarded each year. http://www.ala.org/research/larks/diversity
