The image below shows an example of a new Tinkercad project.
Before beginning your project it's a good idea to set up your workspace by doing at least the following two things:
- Name your project
Tinkercad assigns a made up name to all new projects ("Smooth Gogo-Duup" in the above example). Change this name to something more useful in the Properties window which is found in the Design drop down menu at the top-left corner of the screen.
- Configure the grid size for the 3D printer you'll use to print your final product
The "Edit grid" button in the bottom-right corner of the screen allows you to configure the workspace grid according to the size of various 3D printers or custom dimensions. One of Tinkercad's available options is the MakerBot Replicator 2X printer which the Innovation Space has.
Some other set up choices for you to consider are the visibility and license information about your design. These options are set in the same Properties window where the project name from above is changed.
