Open Access Week Challenge 2022: Day 1 - ORCiD & Author Identifiers

Welcome to Day 1!

Welcome to Day 1 of the HSHSL Open Access Week Challenge! Today we’ll explore how author identifiers can help you make sure your scholarly contributions are all in one place and correctly attributed to you.

Enhancing Your Scholarly Identity Using Author IDs

Day 1 Challenge - if you don't have an ORCiD

If you don't already have an ORCiD, now is the time to create one! Register for your free account, then get started by populating your record. You can choose to use it like a public CV, or you can keep certain portions of the page private.

ORCID

ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) is an open, non-profit initiative that aims to create and maintain a registry of unique researcher identifiers. ORCID can be integrated into every step of the research workflow, from grant application to manuscript submission.

Some of the systems that can integrate with ORCiD:

  • CorssRef Metadata Search
  • DataCite
  • Europe PubMed Central
  • Scopus Author ID

Day 1 Challenge - if you already have an ORCiD

If you already have an ORCiD, review your record to ensure it is up to date. If it is not set up to automatically update with new publications, set up a connection with Scopus Author ID and/or CrossRef Metadata Search.
